How to play Memory Pairs

Make Memory Pairs your next activity in the game library. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Treat the first round as a chance to learn the controls. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Try a deliberate move

After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Seeing a star at the top left and another star in the bottom row gives you a matching pair on a later turn. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Choose a deliberate next step.

Watch out for this

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
