How to play Visual Memory

Take a moment with Visual Memory before moving to another game. Select every square that was shown. Selecting an unshown square ends the session. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions.

Build a steady rhythm

Take enough time to read a new position. If a game has a timer, learn its controls first rather than searching for them during the round. Make the next step deliberately.

Your goal

Select every square that was shown. Selecting an unshown square ends the session. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. Start a round and watch the highlighted cells.
  2. Wait until the board hides the pattern.
  3. Select the positions you remember; order does not matter.
  4. Complete the pattern to advance.

Controls

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Use the control method described here for this activity. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

A useful example

If the four corner squares were shown, select those four corners in any order. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Check the stated objective.

Watch out for this

Unlike Sequence Memory, this game does not require the original order. Compare the situation with the worked example. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
